Jeff’s 5 Favorite Things About Georgetown – May 2019

Jeff Wilson's Top 5

Laduree
LADURÉE
I had a friend in town the other day and we decided to catch up over a cup of coffee. The ubiquitous Starbucks was not an option as we didn’t wish to sit in a soul-crushing sea of laptops and smartphones. Three cappuccinos and eight macaroons later, we rolled out of Ladurée smiling ear to ear. The experience is decidedly decadent, the coffees and treats all superb from the chocolate croissants to the kaleidoscope of macaroon flavors. Their cappuccino was perfect, and sadly, that’s not easy to find these days. Would I go there every day? Definitely not. But, will I be back when I need to treat myself or a friend? 100%!
Lacrosse Ball
CHEZ BILLY SUD

What can I say? I keep going back and was just there last night, celebrating a client’s purchase in Georgetown! The space is easy yet special, the food superb and decidedly French, the service competent and quiet. It’s the perfect place for an elegant dinner, business lunch or the celebration of a special occasion. Now that it’s warm outside, their outdoor patio is a welcome edition for dining al fresco. Visit Chez Billy Sud’s website.
Ultra Violet
ULTRA VIOLET

I love sending flowers and receiving them as well! I am always impressed when I look at a gorgeous arrangement, check out the tag and see it’s from Ultra Violet, a very custom florist right here in Georgetown. The other day I sent an arrangement to a client and she was blown away—mission accomplished! Their designers are clearly very talented and have a diverse selection of flowers to employ. The result is always something modern and special but I think you should treat yourself just to be sure. Visit Ultra Violet.
Luke's Lobster
LUKE’S LOBSTER

I understand Luke’s started right here in town after Luke himself did a business proposal during his senior year at Georgetown. He took it out of the classroom and into the real world with resounding success. Luke is a third-generation lobsterman from Maine so it was an obvious fit, and boy did they nail the perfect lobster roll! They’re also big on sustainability, sourcing seafood directly from fishermen they know and trust. I’ve subsequently eaten Luke’s in Boston (tough crowd to please and it was PACKED!), Penn Quarter, and even Times Square! Now they offer “super size” which is well worth it when you’re an insatiable lobster fan like I am. Let’s head there for lunch one day, my treat!
Rose Park
ROSE PARK

On Wednesday nights during spring, summer and fall, you’ll find the cutest farmer’s market at Rose Park. The vendors sell everything from produce and popsicles to the best brick oven-baked pizza ever—but order your pizza pie early as they sell out fast! It’s a great way to spend time with kids, friends, and neighbors, and there are plenty of them around! It’s quite busy with the playgrounds right there, basketball, tennis and even a baseball diamond. It’s a true neighborhood find!
