Located in the popular West End neighborhood, the Ritz-Carlton West End is part of a famed hospitality brand dating back nearly a century. The West End property isn’t nearly that old however, the mixed-use complex was delivered in 2000 and includes two condo towers, a hotel, and street level retail. There are two other Ritz-Carlton locations in the Washington Metro area, one in next-door Georgetown and the newest in Maryland’s Chevy Chase neighborhood. The full service condos in the West End are very popular, and as a result, there has been a shortage of inventory. There were no new listings in January, and only one active listing as of this report.
The one available condo at the Ritz-Carlton West End is Unit #8E with a price tag of $2,799,000. The three-bedroom apartment is quite spacious, with 3.5 baths and 3,153 square feet of elegant living space plus a private outdoor terrace. The tiled foyer with its cove ceiling transitions into a huge main living area with gleaming hardwood floors and a standalone fireplace. Other features include a formal dining room and a family room, as well as an impressive gourmet kitchen with stone counters, sinks on two sides, and a wine fridge. The expansive primary suite boasts a wall of custom closets, a dressing area with even more closets, and a luxurious ensuite marble bath.
The most recent sale was in December, with Unit #2D closing at $1,865,000, representing a $15,000 bump up from the original asking price. This 1,795 square foot residence has two bedrooms and 2.5 baths and is introduced by a gracious front gallery that branches out in multiple directions. Brazilian cherry herringbone floors are found in all the living areas as well as the kitchen with cream carpet in the bedrooms. There is a large living area, a formal dining room with designer wallpaper, a chef’s kitchen with all the bells and whistles, a larger owners’ suite, and two private outdoor spaces including a big patio that’s perfect for barbeques.
There was also one closing the previous month with Unit #5A selling for $2,450,000. This oversized apartment has three bedrooms, 3.5 baths, and a 2,845 square foot layout. Features include refinished Brazilian cherry floors, a gas fireplace, a formal dining room, and a large front gallery with tile flooring. The kitchen has recently been remodeled with modern feel, including white-on-white cabinetry and counters. There’s also a big family room with a large open entry adjacent to the main living room, and three garage parking spaces.
Also worth noting is the recent withdrawal of Unit #PH3C from the market. This spectacular duplex penthouse has 1,795 square feet of space as well as private outdoor terraces at each level. The price when active was $1,689,000. There’s an L-shaped gourmet kitchen, a living room with inset fireplace, dining room, family room, and two bedroom suites. We’ll keep tracking this one to see if it shows up again.
The Ritz-Carlton West End is well known for its white gloves amenities, with room service from the hotel restaurant as well as options for maid service and private catering. There’s also a concierge, porters and doorman, a courtyard with a dramatic waterfall feature, and direct access to the Equinox Sports Club with its heated indoor pool. Popular restaurants are just steps away, as is the West End Cinema.
