The Columbia Residences is one of the most striking adaptive reuse developments in Washington, DC, with unsurpassed community amenities and a rich history. Originally located in Thomas Circle, the Columbia Hospital for Women opened in 1866, serving wives and widows of Civil War soldiers. The hospital moved to its current West End location in 1876 and was rebuilt in 1912. In 2002, the complex with its ornate Italianate design closed its doors as a hospital. It subsequently renovated, reopening in 2006 as luxury condominiums.

The most expensive new listing at the Columbia in March is Unit #203 with a $1,895,000 price tag. The large apartment with 2-bedrooms, 2.5-baths plus a den, measures out at 1,915 square feet. Unit #210 listed in January for $793,500 but is now temporarily off the market. The spacious city dwelling offers 2-bedrooms, 2-baths and 1,375 square feet of living space. Also going into active under contract status in March was Unit #335. The 1-bedroom, 1-bath apartment with den measures out at 850 square feet and had been listed at $599,900. The attractive gem features blonde hardwoods throughout and an open gourmet kitchen with dark granite counters and Sub-Zero, Viking and Kitchenaid stainless steel appliances. Bonus points for the private balcony!
