The Columbia | Market Pulse | October 2019

Located in DC’s popular West End neighborhood is a condominium with a unique history. The Columbia Hospital for Women opened in 1866 in Thomas Circle, serving wives and widows of Civil War soldiers. It relocated to the West End in 1876 and was rebuilt in 1912 as a larger facility. It ultimately closed its hospital doors in 2002, but was renovated and reborn in 2006 as the Columbia Residences. The iconic Italianate design from original architect Nathan C. Wyeth is one of the city’s most distinguished landmarks.
