Located near the banks of the Potomac River in Arlington’s Rosslyn waterfront, Turnberry Tower remains the tallest residential building in the Washington Metro area. Delivered in 2009, the sleek 26-story tower was designed by Robert Swedroe and is home to some 247 luxury condos. The building is absolutely packed with full-service amenities, offers stunning views, and is conveniently close to the Rosslyn Metro Station as well as Key Bridge, leading across the river to Georgetown.
June was a hotbed of sales activity, including the month’s only new listing. So let’s begin with what is currently available.
Unit #1801 came to market in May and is still active. Offered at $1,500,000, the two-bedroom, two-bath flat features a large and open 1,754 square foot layout. Among the many features is a private elevator, along with soaring ceilings, and massive windows. Tile floors are throughout the main living areas with cream carpet in the bedroom suites. There is also a separate laundry room, and an expansive balcony.
Unit #1109 is still up for grabs with an asking price of $1,175,000. The one bedroom, two full bath apartment has a bonus den/study with a Murphy bed, allowing for extra sleeping space. Porcelain tile floors, marble baths, and a big terrace with glimpses of the river add to the appeal of this 1,642 square foot residence. The open gourmet kitchen has all the upscale bells and whistles, and there is also a private elevator entry.
Meanwhile Unit #909 is listed as C/S (coming soon) status and may or may not be active by the time this report is published. The price is anticipated to be $1,150,000 for this one-bedroom, two-bath apartment with a den and 1,642 square feet of living space. Private elevator access, dedicated parking, and commanding city views are part of the package along with a sweeping covered balcony and an open kitchen with Sub-Zero and Miele appliances.
Unit #702 received an accepted offer in June and is now in Active Under Contract status, aka pending with contingencies. The oversized F Model had been listed at $1,799,000. The 2,227 square foot layout includes two bedrooms, 2.5 baths, and a den that can be used as a third bedroom. A 300 square foot private terrace adds even more depth. Other features include a direct access elevator, diagonally laid hardwood floors, and secure parking.
Similarly, Unit #707 went into Active Under Contract status in June. The 1,404 square foot condo had been priced at $860,000 with one bedroom, a den with pocket doors that can also be used as a second bedroom, and two exquisite full baths. Lovely hardwood floors run throughout the apartment, and the open gourmet kitchen features Snaidero cabinetry, stone counters, and Miele and Sub-Zero appliances.
Unit #PH10 listed on June 3 for $2,750,000 and went under contract the very next day. The completely renovated penthouse closed just 10 days later at the full asking price. Given the lack of photographs or other public information, the 2,267 square foot residence with two garage parking spaces is likely to have been a private sale.
Unit #TS02 sold in June for $3,400,000 which is $50,000 above the asking price. The spectacular Tower Suite penthouse features three bedrooms, 3.5 baths, a private elevator, soaring ceilings, and lovely hardwood floors. The 3,100 square feet of living space is complemented by custom wall finishes, a stunning gourmet kitchen, a sweeping terrace, and a primary suite with a marble fireplace, dressing room, and ensuite marble bath.
With 1,742 square feet of living space as well as an oversized 314 square foot balcony, Unit #512 sold for $1,115,000 after listing for $1.2 million. The two-bedroom D Model has two baths, custom millwork, elegant marble and granite elements, and a private elevator but no assigned parking.
The final sale for June is Unit #1606. The 1,404 square foot apartment with its modern white-on-white ambience closed at $1,100,000 after listing for $1,175,000. There is one bedroom, a den with a Murphy bed, two full baths, porcelain floors, a remodeled kitchen, and an expansive private terrace.
Those fortunate enough to live at Turnberry Tower enjoy one of the most complete array of luxury amenities that you are likely to find. This includes a large and elegant lobby with concierge service, doormen, valets, and porters. There is also a giant indoor swimming pool in an atrium-like setting, a private screening theater with deep leather seats, a lounge with billiards, and a state-of-the-art fitness center including a yoga studio and spa.
