With its perennial popularity and an industrial-chic ethos, the Wooster and Mercer Lofts community is located in Arlington’s Rosslyn neighborhood. Developed by Abdo and designed by Cunningham Quill, the condominium complex is composed of two large brick buildings, one named Wooster and the other Mercer. Planted along Clarendon Boulevard and extending down the side streets of Queen and Pierce, the structures were inspired by New York City’s SOHO warehouse district, especially buildings along Wooster Street and Mercer Street.
There are 87 condo units between the two seven-story buildings with floorplans ranging from single level to two-story loft designs. Stunning interior finish details include soaring ceilings, huge factory-style windows, and 150 year-old brick accents that were reclaimed from the former Little Sisters of the Poor convent in Washington, DC. The enduring affection for these residences means that owners don’t often put then up for resale. That was again the case in April with no active listings or sales activity. Below are highlights from recent closings:
The most recent sale was in March, with Unit #W106 settling at $820,000. This is a supersized one-bedroom residence with 1,400 square feet of living space. The main living, dining, and cooking area is so large and open that it could theoretically support the addition of another interior space, such as a den or second bedroom. Features include towering ceilings, exposed overhead ductwork, and long, hanging factory-style lights. Cherry hardwood floors are bathed in natural light from the giant windows, and exposed brick accents add to the warehouse vibe. The chef’s kitchen features Viking and Sub-Zero appliances, and there is also an in-unit laundry room, as well as two secure parking spaces and extra storage.
The only other sale to date in 2025 is Unit #M306, a 1,421 square foot condo with one bedroom, 1.5 baths, and a large office/den with sliding barn-style windows. The spacious residence with its high ceilings and lovely cherry hardwood floors closed in January for $1,035,000. Features include giant windows, an exposed white brick wall in the main living area, exposed ductwork, and long hanging lamps. A beautiful new kitchen boasts white stone counters and a matching dining/prep counter with waterfall edges. The bedroom suite with its walk-in closet is quite roomy, and there is also an in-unit laundry room. Garage parking is included.
The top sale in 2024 occurred toward the end of the year with Unit #W304 closing at $1,500,000. The two-bedroom, 2.5-bath residence is a true duplex loft with 2,170 square feet of living space and a towering two-story wall of windows. Brazilian cherry hardwood floors run throughout, with a bedroom at each level. The chef-inspired kitchen is open to the main living and dining area, with floating iron stairs ascending to the upper level where you’ll find an expansive office/entertainment area overlooking the living room below. There is also a large second ensuite bedroom at the upper level.
Those lucky enough to already own a condo at Wooster and Mercer have much to enjoy beyond the warehouse-inspired residences. For one thing, the location is terrific, close to shops, restaurants, and entertainment along the trendy Rosslyn-Ballston Corridor—a stretch of five urban villages that are interconnected by Metrorail stations in each neighborhood. Metro stations close to Wooster and Mercer include the Rosslyn Metro and the Courthouse Metro. And then there’s the onsite amenities including a friendly lobby staff with concierge service, a state-of-the-art fitness center, an inviting swimming pool, and a club room with billiards. The pet-friendly condo community has grassy areas for dogs to enjoy, and there is also a small next-door neighborhood park.
