The Columbia | Market Pulse | April 2020

Located in Washington’s West End neighborhood is one of the District’s most striking and unique condo communities. The Columbia Residences was once the Columbia Hospital for Women. Dedicated to serving wives and widows of Civil War soldiers, the hospital opened its doors in Thomas Circle in 1866 and moved to the West End neighborhood a decade later. In 1912, the facility was rebuilt with a stunning design from noted architect Nathan Wyeth. The hospital closed and was subsequently renovated, including the addition of two new wings, as luxury condominiums in 2006. Among the many amenities is a ground floor Trader Joe’s!

New to the market in April is Unit #534. The immaculate apartment features, 1-bedroom, a den and 1-bath, with a roomy 810 square foot layout. Lovely classic strip hardwood floors run throughout the main living area and the oversized bedroom with its walk-in closet and en-suite marble bath with duel entries. The den is big enough to use as a second bedroom. Also of note is the gourmet kitchen with Poggenpohl cabinets, a handsome pantry with sliding door, and SubZero, Viking and Bosch stainless steel appliances. There’s also a cute balcony!
