The Columbia | Market Pulse | September 2020

The Columbia Residences was once a women’s hospital. It was founded in Thomas Circle in 1866, relocated to the West End in 1876 and rebuilt a decade later with a memorable design from architect Nathan C. Wyeth. Originally dedicated to serving the wives and widows of Civil War soldiers, the hospital remained open until 2006, when it closed its doors and was reimagined as luxury condos. The property is also home to a Trader Joe’s market.
